Stressed homeowners are finding a cure for hectic schedules in the most unlikely place: the bathroom. Many homes, both new and old, are now outfitted with the latest whirlpool tubs designed to relax with jets of soothing water.

This year, record numbers of new home buyers are specifying larger bathrooms, which are ideal for spacious whirlpools. The bathroom is one of the leading areas for home renovation; increasing numbers of homeowners replacing traditional tubs in favor of therapeutic vessels that promise warm-water massages. Overall, the whirlpool tub market is growing at a rate of 5 to 7 percent annually, according to industry sources.

“The popularity of whirlpool tubs is attributed to the huge surge in spa visits," says Tanya Amri, Allied Trade Group Design Associate. “It’s like creating a spa atmosphere in the comfort of your own home; you don’t have to share it with anyone and you can go anytime, day or night."
